World Organisation Honours Vice Chancellor , Al- Qalam Varsity
World Organisation in collaboration with Hand Up Development Organisation has honoured Vice-Chancellor, Al-Qalam University Katsina, Prof. Shehu Garki Ado with an award as Ambassador for Peace.
At a ceremony which took place in Kaduna on Wednesday, 7th April 2021, attended by personalities from different parts of Nigeria and also African Chancellor, Dr. David Morondiya who also represented Argentina International President, Prof. Martin Rodolfo Saturnino Maure.
The Vice-Chancellor, Al-Qalam University was among fifteen other awardees among them His Highness, SA Gbagyi, Dr. Danjuma Barde, Former Senator Shehu Sani, Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof. Kabir Bala, Kaduna State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof. Joseph Akpoko and Mrs. Zugwai Anita Chukwu, Managing Director, Zeemarite Abuja.
In his address, the African Chancellor, Dr. David Morondiya noted the absent of peace in many regions of the world and stressed the need for well meaning individuals and organisations to collectively rise to the challenge by motivating leaders to sustain the peace at all cost.
‘’ We understand that our world is lacking peace and we are out to encourage peace makers, so that they can be proactive in their respective localities’’.
Dr. Morondiya called on the awardees to live by example and start doing the work expected of them.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Regional Co-ordinator, North West Nigeria, Dr. Polycarp Danladi , explained that the organisation seeks to advocate for adequate international relations with States and Non-Govermental Organisations and different sectors for effective mediation of conflicts.
He congratulated the sixteen awardees of the prestigious global award for 2021, explaining that they were selected to be ambassadors of peace based on their reputation and urged them to serve as frontiers of every societal affairs.
Former Senator Shehu Sani who served as Chairman of the event, congratulated the organisers for a successful ceremony and charged his fellow recipients to prove that they deserve the award by being courageous in speaking the truth to those in power.
