Al-Qalam University Katsina held special congregation meeting, Wednesday 17th November 2021, where the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Nasir Musa Yauri spoke about his vision to members of the congregation.
Professor Yauri spoke of his intention to upgrade academic procedures to enhance transparency and due process in teaching,
saying that to achieve the set objective, lecturers should be upright, give quality timeto their students and ensure proper grading of the students at the end of examinations.
He said it is important to showcase the University to be first choice of all students,stating that admission should be strictly controlled and staff training and capacity development through seminar and workshop will be pursued vigorously
Professor Yauri acknowledged the contribution of staff to the development and growth of the University, urging them to do more for the University to become one of the leading Universities in the world.
He said | have come here believing that there is a duty for me to perform, as I am equally passionate for the development of tertiary institutions, and so, I will welcome ideas or suggestions towards the development of the university".
In his report, representative of Congregation to Governing Council, Dr. Abdulrahman Tahir gave brief on Council Meetings held between 6th June to 7th October 2021, stating that Council had approved reduction of tuition fee of 7 undergraduate programmes and allp ostgraduate programmes.
He explained that the tuition fee for B.A.Arabic, B.A. English, B.A. Hausa, B.A.Islamic Studies have been reduced by 40%,, BSc. Chemistry, BSc. Mathematic and BSc. Physics by 50% and all Postgraduate Programmes by 20%.
He said Council had approved Management'srequest for establishment of College of Computing and Information Sciences,restructuring of the Department of Mathematical Science and promotion of eight academic staff to the rank of Professors and Associate Professor.
