Gov. Masari Commissions Multi-Million Naira Auditorium at Al-Qalam University Katsina
Katsina State Governor, Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari has said that he would continue to overhaul the education sector of the state through out the second tenure of his government.
The Governor stated this on Sunday, 29th September 2019, in a speech shortly before he commissioned a Multi-Million Naira auditorium at Al-Qalam University, Katsina.
He explained that through the restoration agenda of the government, sustained funding of tertiary institutions belonging to the state would be maintained to improve infrastructure, staff and students welfare.
Represented by the Head of Service, Alh. Idris Usman Tune, Governor Masari also said that government would support private educational institutions operating in the state, believing that imparting sound knowledge would enhance the general progress and development of the people of the state.
‘’I also want to say vividly, that the state government will continue to support and provide the enabling atmosphere for operations of private educational institutions in the state towards ensuring a sustainable development in education sector and in consolidating achievements made’’. He said.
Earlier, while welcoming the Governor, the Chairman Governing Council, Al-Qalam University, Sani Zangon Daura represented by Professor Ibrahim Na’iya Sada thanked the Governor for indicating his intention to include Al-Qalam University among beneficiaries of the State Government proposed Financial Support Package for higher institutions in the state.
Also speaking, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Shehu Garki Ado explained that the Multi-Million Naira auditorium was donated to the university by Parents and Stakeholders Forum of the university and it was named after the immediate past Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the university, late Muhammadu Lawal Kaita. The auditorium was built at the cost of N150 million comprising 3 lecture halls, 14 staff offices and an executive office with a conference room.
Prof. Shehu Garki Ado congratulated the Parents and Stakeholders Forum for showing the potential to support the advancement of the university.
In his speech, Chairman, Parents and Stakeholders Forum, Barrister Lawal Balarabe said apart from the auditorium, the Forum is constructing a 350 capacity lecture hall at the cost of N82 million which is expected to be completed by the end of October, 2019.
Also speaking, Chairman of Katsina Islamic Foundation, Khadimul-Islam, Alh. Bilya Sanda thanked Governor Aminu Bello Masari for the immense contribution he offered at the initial struggle to establish the university.
After the commissioning of the auditorium, the representative of the Governor and also special guests were led by the Vice-Chancellor to see three on-going projects in the university.
