*Vice-Chancellor receives Evaluation Team on Governance from NUC*
The Vice-Chancellor, Al-Qalam University Katsina Prof. Shehu Garki Ado has recieved a team from the National Universities Commission-NUC to evaluate the quality of governance and management practices of the University.
The team headed by Dr. Kudirat Ibiyeye began its assignment on Monday, 15th July, 2019 by paying a courtesy visit on the University Management to explain the scope of the assignment.
She said the team would focus on twelve key areas explaining further that the idea behind the exercise is to improve the general administration of private universities in Nigeria.
Dr. Kudirat said ‘’ The National Universities Commssiion asked us to come for this evaluation exercise as part of its mandate to ensure that private universities in the country are conforming with the standards prescribed for them by the Commission and for this reason we would look at your laws, academic brief, minutes of meetings of the Board of Trustees, Governing Council, Management and Senate among others ’’.
She said it is also the intention of the team to interract with the Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, members of the Board of Trustees and Katsina Islamic Foundation being the proprietor of the University.
Welcoming the team, the Vice-Chancellor, Al-Qalam University, Prof. Shehu Garki Ado expressed happiness assuring that the University would fully co-operate to ensure full success of the evaluation exercise.
