*TASSU Elections: Winners emerge in First Ever Election*
Yesterday's elections will serve as an unforgettable experience for Taraba State students not just because it was conducted in an orderly manner but because it's indeed a remarkable milestone achieved as the first ever election held for Tsraba State Students Union (TASSU) since it's establishment in Al-Qalam.
Alpha Muhammad lead a team of well structured officials as it's Elcom Chairman in an election which started 8:30 am and ended 1:30 pm. A total of 150 ballots were issued for the election which witnessed a high turnout of both male and female students given the population of Taraba State students in the University.
Position of Secretary General was the most keenly contested as two opponents both with outstanding records clashed for the prestigious seat. Abbas Uba Muhammad and Aminu Umar Waziri were the two contestants with the latter emerging victorious with a mergin of only 6 votes.
Ibrahim Umar waziri also defeated his lone opponent Abdulkareem Aliyu to clinch the seat of Financial Secretary. Sulaiman Tukur Sambo lost the seat of PRO I to Lawan Sulaiman Loddo.
Other aspirants were automatically announced winners due to lack of opponents for the respective positions they contested. They include Hamman Yaya'u Gassol (Vice President), Abdullahi Aruwa (Treasurer), Dahiru A. Musa (Senator), Gidado Abdulhamid Muh'd (Auditor II), Muh'd Koiranga (Org. Secretary) among others. A total of 18 aspirants contested.
Abubakar Jamilu Dauda who is the sole candidate for the post of President was not announced winner as at the time of filing this report as he is yet successfully complete the purchase of his form.
